Four research projects have been initiated by the National Mission for Manuscripts in collaboration with National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC), Lucknow. 7 research fellows selected through interviews are currently working at Regional Laboratory for Conservation, Mysore, a regional branch of NRLC. The areas covered are-

1.
Evaluation of different methods of laminating paper and to evolve an indigenous method.
2.
To discover a suitable adhesive for repair and restoration of palm leaves.
3.
To evolve simple methods of mass de-acidification of manuscripts.
4.
Evaluation of substances traditionally used as repellants and fungicides and to increase
  their efficiency.

The findings of the research will eventually be published by the Mission.
